Professor Xu Longxiang has been engaged in mechanical design teaching work and the magnetic bearing research. During his two years at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, he spent three months at the Imperial College London and has been working on magnetic bearings for many years abroad. The research results on "magnetic bearings" have won three national defense science and technology awards, including 1 first prize (2005) and 2 third prizes (one in 2006 and 2000).
Apply for more than 20 invention patents, of which six authorized. Published a monograph, 2 textbooks, published more than 60 academic papers.
Undertake more than 20 research projects on magnetic bearings, the main project of the National 863 Project, the National Natural Science Foundation of key projects and surface projects, aviation pre-research project, Jiangsu Science Fund, Aviation Science Fund and enterprise commissioned projects, developed Magnetic bearings in the national defense industry units, large and medium-sized state enterprises, research institutes and other units have been successfully applied to solve these units in the production practice encountered high-speed, high temperature bearing technical problems.
In September 2009, Professor Xu Longxiang led the R & D team successfully developed the first domestic magnetic levitation centrifugal blower, to fill the gap, ranking the world advanced level.
